In the 7th minute Christian Kellbom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Vandenberge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. RWDM's Tony Vandenberge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jozef Dauwen in the 10th minute of play. After having played for 11 minutes, Fernand De Beer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RWDM's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernand De Beer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 13th minute Lennert Van der Vloedt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hans-Joachim Amerhauser saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patrick Van Doren's late challenge caught a RWDM's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Patrick Van Doren helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Forza Heppenbach's Patrick Van Doren got a free kick in the 22nd minute. In the 26th minute, Christian Kellbom ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tony Vandenberge was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Forza Heppenbach's Brent Desmet was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tony Vandenberge in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 35 minutes into the match, Lennert Van der Vloedt dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Hans-Joachim Amerhauser, 4-1. RWDM's Tony Vandenberge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl-Michael Almqvist in the 41st minute of play. If 俞岩寒 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Hans-Joachim Amerhauser showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernand De Beer, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute.
