The referee felt a red card was in order, 7 minutes into the game, when Edgar Tolsson put in a rough tackle. After 6 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Lanzenkirchen! The goalkeeper, Karl-Åke Brummer, was totally fooled by Galatasaray SK's Arto Kaldmaa, who 8 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Sören Bergmann scored 1-1 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gunnar Taevere, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gunnar Taevere showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximiliano Stackevičius, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. If Louis Bell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gunnar Taevere made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximiliano Stackevičius in the 17th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Lanzenkirchen's goal looked a bit too open when Klaus Beudel came free, but Karl-Åke Brummer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 24th minute, Einar Vandborg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Galatasaray SK booed when Lanzenkirchen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Karl-Åke Brummer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Klaus Beudel in the 51st minute of play. 53 minutes into the game, Galatasaray SK's Klaus Beudel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Karl-Åke Brummer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Eduard Säuml's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Karl-Åke Brummer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Eduard Säuml hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Galatasaray SK's Gunnar Taevere played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Louis Bell in the 64th minute of play. Louis Bell might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gunnar Taevere. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Louis Bell ran back to his position shaking his head. Lanzenkirchen's Andreas Schüddekopf was substituted for Louis Bell. Gunnar Taevere showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andreas Schüddekopf in the 69th minute of the match. Gunnar Taevere made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Andreas Schüddekopf sent off a good shot on target. Maximiliano Stackevičius scored 2-2 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gunnar Taevere, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 79 minutes into the match, Galatasaray SK's goalkeeper Gunnar Taevere had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maximiliano Stackevičius. The supporters of Lanzenkirchen booed when Galatasaray SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nico-Pascal Divis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Andreas Schüddekopf fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gunnar Taevere having to interfere.
