The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ciprian Vasiliu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcel Horodincă read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. 14 minutes into the match, REBCOS's goal looked a bit too open when Ioan Cluceru came free, but Marcel Horodincă reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 19 played minutes F.C. BUDENI got a freekick which was hit by Dan Bute. Sandu Buculeasa struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Costin Ciobanu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for REBCOS. After a rather tough play, F.C. BUDENI's Panait Enoiu got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Tudor Ciulei fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Costin Ciobanu having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ciprian Vasiliu got free with Marcel Horodincă in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Tudor Ciulei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to F.C. BUDENI getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Aurel Baican hit a great ball. Nae Omescu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 36th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Costin Ciobanu. F.C. BUDENI's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sandu Buculeasa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Costin Ciobanu having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Ioan Cluceru reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marcel Horodincă. The goal made the score 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Thanks to some nice moves Tudor Ciulei could shoot a difficult shot in the 62nd minute, which Costin Ciobanu however easily saved by the left post. When the match had gone on for 69 minutes, Sandu Buculeasa took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Costin Ciobanu to make any attempt to save it. If Tudor Ciulei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ioan Cluceru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcel Horodincă having to interfere. Marcel Horodincă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ioan Cluceru in the 76th minute of play. After a rather tough play, REBCOS's Gigi Ştefoi got a free kick in the 77th minute. Ciprian Vasiliu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Marcel Horodincă tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Tudor Ciulei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gigi Ştefoi during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 83rd minute, Gigi Ştefoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
