Olesti's Iustin Diaconescu got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ioan Cluceru's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Petruț Stănculescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciprian Vasiliu in the 10th minute of play forced Olesti's goalkeeper Petruț Stănculescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Octav Gherguț struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Costin Ciobanu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Olesti. Ioan Cluceru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Petruț Stănculescu having to interfere. F.C. After some careless play in the Olesti defense, Ioan Cluceru kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Petruț Stănculescu. The Olesti fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Petruț Stănculescu should have stopped the shot. Ioan Cluceru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Petruț Stănculescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half F.C. BUDENI were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Ioan Cluceru made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, F.C. BUDENI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dan Bute to maneuver through the defense. Basarab Ozon hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Costin Ciobanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octav Gherguț, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 61 minutes into the match, Octav Gherguț had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Costin Ciobanu. F.C. BUDENI's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Octav Gherguț was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Petruț Stănculescu was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Viorel Chimeț. If Octav Gherguț had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dan Bute charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dan Bute the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 75th match minute, F.C. BUDENI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dan Bute to maneuver through the defense. Adam Calciu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 76th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Costin Ciobanu. F.C. BUDENI's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Olesti's zone, Ioan Cluceru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Petruț Stănculescu came out of the goal and Ioan Cluceru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 81 minutes into the match, Olesti's goalkeeper Petruț Stănculescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ciprian Vasiliu. After 83 minutes, Ciprian Vasiliu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the F.C. BUDENI and the Olesti players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to F.C. BUDENI getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Ciprian Vasiliu hit a great ball. Cătălin Dindelegan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Costin Ciobanu having to interfere. F.C. BUDENI's Costin Ciobanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Octav Gherguț in the 88th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iustin Diaconescu in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Costin Ciobanu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Costin Ciobanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iustin Diaconescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. F.C. BUDENI's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
