The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Sepcile Rosii Cluj-Napoca booed when F.C. BUDENI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dan Bute didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in F.C. BUDENI's zone, Iacob Constantinescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Costin Ciobanu came out of the goal and Iacob Constantinescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 9th minute of the game. One of F.C. BUDENI:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Sepcile Rosii Cluj-Napoca:s goal. The supporters of Sepcile Rosii Cluj-Napoca booed when F.C. BUDENI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iulian Urducea didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Dan Bute fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C. BUDENI's protests and gave Dan Bute a yellow card for diving instead. In the 19th minute, Dan Bute hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Ciprian Vasiliu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alexandru Lucrețiu was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Costin Ciobanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vali Andrițoiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Costin Ciobanu was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Emilian Dascălu. In the 37th minute Vali Andrițoiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Costin Ciobanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 39 minutes into the game, Iacob Constantinescu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Costin Ciobanu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ioan Cluceru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexandru Lucrețiu having to interfere. In the 45th match minute, Sepcile Rosii Cluj-Napoca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emanuel Răduțu to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vali Andrițoiu made a kick off. Ciprian Vasiliu's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 52ndth minute, Alexandru Lucrețiu skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Vali Andrițoiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vali Andrițoiu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Costin Ciobanu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. In the 65th minute, Iulian Urducea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 67 minutes into the match, F.C. BUDENI's goal looked a bit too open when Iacob Constantinescu came free, but Costin Ciobanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, F.C. BUDENI's Ioan Cluceru got a free kick in the 71st minute. In the 72ndth minute of the game Vali Andrițoiu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but F.C. BUDENI's Costin Ciobanu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Viorel Chimeț lost his temper 78 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in F.C. BUDENI fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 78th minute. Penalty! After having played for 84 minutes, Iacob Constantinescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sepcile Rosii Cluj-Napoca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iacob Constantinescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Costin Ciobanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vali Andrițoiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Alexandru Lucrețiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciprian Vasiliu in the 88th minute of the match. 99 minutes into the game, Sepcile Rosii Cluj-Napoca's Iacob Constantinescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Costin Ciobanu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. There was no doubt that Sepcile Rosii Cluj-Napoca were the better team. Sepcile Rosii Cluj-Napoca's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
