The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The tension between the Olesti and the Tulesti players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Olesti's Octav Gherguț got a free kick in the 15th minute. 18 minutes into the match, Olesti's goalkeeper Petruț Stănculescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gică Isbășoiu. 18 minutes into the game, Traian Ciuhandu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Olesti's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tulesti the free kick. Marin Apolzan's late challenge caught a Olesti's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marin Apolzan helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Tulesti getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Marin Apolzan hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gică Isbășoiu got free with Petruț Stănculescu in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Traian Ciuhandu got his second yellow card in the match during the 34th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. With a little luck, Olesti's Petruț Stănculescu got control of the ball when Gică Isbășoiu tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Gică Isbășoiu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Petruț Stănculescu was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Chants of Olesti echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Tulesti had held the ball for most of the match.
