Iacob Cernat made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gigi Bobei in the 14th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Gigi Bobei's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Iacob Cernat was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. After 19 played minutes FC Universitatea Cluj got a freekick which was hit by Pantaley Ganev. Iacob Cernat showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dan Burileanu in the 22nd minute of the match. A collision led to FC Universitatea Cluj getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Fellipe Guedes hit a great ball. Pantaley Ganev kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. FC Universitatea Cluj's Iacob Cernat played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gigi Bobei in the 28th minute of play. Giannis Kalomiris fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valer Onișoru having to interfere. Valer Onișoru made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Waclaw Markowski sent off a good shot on target. FC Universitatea Cluj's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Waclaw Markowski in the 37th minute. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Valer Onișoru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giannis Kalomiris in the 38th minute of play. After having played for 42 minutes, Giannis Kalomiris managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Universitatea Cluj's supporters crossed their fingers, but Giannis Kalomiris was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Valer Onișoru made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Fellipe Guedes sent off a good shot on target.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Giannis Kalomiris stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Valer Onișoru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fellipe Guedes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Iacob Cernat stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gigi Bobei's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Valer Onișoru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fellipe Guedes in the 63rd minute of the match. In the 66th match minute, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Codruț Dobrinescu to maneuver through the defense. Bogumil Debkowski kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Isac Inculeț's late challenge caught a PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Isac Inculeț helped the player get up and apologised. The PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented FC Universitatea Cluj from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
