In the 5th minute, Flavius Hortopan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nistor Porumbescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giannis Kalomiris in the 11th minute of the match. When Fellipe Guedes came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the FC Universitatea Cluj fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fellipe Guedes couldn't finish the play. A collision led to BlackKnights getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Ştefan Şoiman hit a great ball. After 21 played minutes FC Universitatea Cluj got a freekick which was hit by Grigore Bălcescu. Ştefan Şoiman's late challenge caught a FC Universitatea Cluj's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ştefan Şoiman helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to BlackKnights getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Ştefan Şoiman hit a great ball. Fellipe Guedes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Nistor Porumbescu made a huge save. 27 minutes had been played when some careless play by BlackKnights's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Waclaw Markowski was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Universitatea Cluj's players had a chance to rest. 30 minutes into the match, FC Universitatea Cluj's goal looked a bit too open when Gheorghe Corbuț came free, but Iacob Cernat reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Universitatea Cluj's Iacob Cernat played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicodim Zăreanu in the 31st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Grigore Bălcescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Universitatea Cluj's supporters rose to their feet, but Grigore Bălcescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nistor Porumbescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 40 minutes into the game, Dumitru Bistreanu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BlackKnights's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Universitatea Cluj the free kick. After 40 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for BlackKnights! The excitement rose when FC Universitatea Cluj's Waclaw Markowski after 42 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for BlackKnights's goalkeeper to hold. Score! 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Gheorghe Corbuț made the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, BlackKnights's Iacob Cernat threw himself towards the right post 54 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gheorghe Corbuț, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of FC Universitatea Cluj booed when BlackKnights was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ştefan Şoiman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nistor Porumbescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fellipe Guedes, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Waclaw Markowski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nistor Porumbescu having to interfere. Giannis Kalomiris took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nistor Porumbescu. Nistor Porumbescu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Giannis Kalomiris's late challenge caught a BlackKnights's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Giannis Kalomiris helped the player get up and apologised. After 91 played minutes FC Universitatea Cluj got a freekick which was hit by Giannis Kalomiris. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fellipe Guedes in the 94th minute of play forced BlackKnights's goalkeeper Nistor Porumbescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the BlackKnights defense, Fellipe Guedes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nistor Porumbescu. The BlackKnights fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nistor Porumbescu should have stopped the shot. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. FC Universitatea Cluj had played much better football throughout.
