In the 3rd minute of the match Reginald Maddern sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alexander Baxter skillfully saved the ball. 8 minutes into the match, Wodonga United's goal looked a bit too open when Edwardo Stafford came free, but Alexander Baxter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wodonga United's Alexander Baxter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bran Bennett in the 10th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Bran Bennett made a precise shot to the right of Alexander Baxter. Wodonga United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After 17 minutes, Brad Colling made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Mingoola's Philip Luckham tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Craig Turnor's late challenge caught a Wodonga United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Craig Turnor helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Wodonga United booed when Mingoola was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Craig Turnor didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Wodonga United defense, Jamese Mewburn kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alexander Baxter. The Wodonga United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alexander Baxter should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Berkeley Loch got free with Philip Luckham in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Berkeley Loch could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Philip Luckham made a huge save. Wodonga United's Alexander Baxter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ike Mcgrath in the 36th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ike Mcgrath in the 38th minute of play forced Wodonga United's goalkeeper Alexander Baxter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexander Baxter didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Elliott Kernick went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Berkeley Loch's late challenge caught a Mingoola's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Berkeley Loch helped the player get up and apologised. After 42 played minutes Wodonga United got a freekick which was hit by Berkeley Loch. After a rather tough play, Wodonga United's Brennan Munday got a free kick in the 46th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Berkeley Loch to strike the kick off in the second half. With 53 minutes on the clock, Craig Turnor commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 53 minutes into the game, one of Mingoola:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Brad Colling walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. When Edwardo Stafford fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mingoola's protests and gave Edwardo Stafford a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Mingoola getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Edwardo Stafford hit a great ball. Mingoola's Philip Luckham played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Berkeley Loch in the 59th minute of play. Philip Luckham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brad Colling, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brad Colling in the 73rd minute of play forced Mingoola's goalkeeper Philip Luckham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexander Baxter came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by Mingoola's Edwardo Stafford. But to his dismay, Edwardo Stafford quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-5. 77 minutes into the game, Brad Colling cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-5. Philip Luckham was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Wodonga United's defense didn't have a chance, in the 80th minute, when Bran Bennett scored to the left of an out of position Alexander Baxter, making the score, 3-6. Alexander Baxter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elliott Kernick in the 84th minute of play. Philip Luckham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Berkeley Loch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 92 minutes into the match, Ike Mcgrath notched a goal, 3-7, to the right of Wodonga United's Alexander Baxter. Alexander Baxter was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a little luck, Wodonga United's Alexander Baxter got control of the ball when Bran Bennett tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Mingoola eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
