Carroll Hathaway showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juninho Freitas in the 6th minute of the match. In the 6th minute Juninho Freitas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carroll Hathaway saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 8 minutes into the match, Sipo EC's goal looked a bit too open when Juninho Freitas came free, but Carroll Hathaway reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sipo EC's Carroll Hathaway played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guga Trancoso in the 10th minute of play. In the 11th minute Juninho Freitas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carroll Hathaway saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Juninho Freitas in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carroll Hathaway saved Sipo EC from getting behind. Serginho Nogueira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Flávio Reis in the 13th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Sipo EC's goal looked a bit too open when Guga Trancoso came free, but Carroll Hathaway reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When PIAUÍ FC's Juninho Freitas, in the 18th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for PIAUÍ FC. Carroll Hathaway didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Demis Katsarolidis went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 25 minutes into the match, Sipo EC's goal looked a bit too open when Baturhan Oytun came free, but Carroll Hathaway reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Sipo EC's goal looked a bit too open when Demis Katsarolidis came free, but Carroll Hathaway reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, Sipo EC's goal looked a bit too open when Juninho Freitas came free, but Carroll Hathaway reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Sipo EC's goal looked a bit too open when Juninho Freitas came free, but Carroll Hathaway reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Guga Trancoso notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Sipo EC's Carroll Hathaway. Despite this Serginho Nogueira quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 43 minutes into the match, Sipo EC's Albert Hidegkúti sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Serginho Nogueira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to PIAUÍ FC getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Baturhan Oytun hit a great ball. Sipo EC's Noel Velloso was substituted for Sérgio Madureira. The Sipo EC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. PIAUÍ FC were winning 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Guga Trancoso to strike the kick off in the second half. Sipo EC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 53rd minute, when Juninho Freitas scored to the left of an out of position Carroll Hathaway, making the score, 0-3. Carroll Hathaway showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guga Trancoso in the 57th minute of the match. PIAUÍ FC's Benedito Paes was substituted for Juninho Freitas. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guga Trancoso in the 69th minute of play forced Sipo EC's goalkeeper Carroll Hathaway to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 71 minutes into the match, PIAUÍ FC's Benedito Paes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carroll Hathaway narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Benedito Paes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Carroll Hathaway made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Guga Trancoso got free with Carroll Hathaway in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Baturhan Oytuns short, quick shot in the 89thth minute got Carroll Hathaway to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Carroll Hathaway made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guga Trancoso in the 92nd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 96 minutes, Benedito Paes took a quick shot and it went in 0-7 without a chance for Carroll Hathaway to make any attempt to save it. When the match was over PIAUÍ FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sipo EC throughout the match.
