The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Denílson Leão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgardo Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jeremy Nicholas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xie Shu Tian in the 23rd minute of the match. Jeremy Nicholas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xie Shu Tian in the 26th minute of play. New England Minas's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jörgen Frohm in the 31st minute. A nice corner shot did that Jörgen Frohm got away a dangerous shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Nordmark in the 62nd minute of play forced Pecém's goalkeeper Denílson Leão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Xie Shu Tian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Tony Pacheco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Xie Shu Tian struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Jeremy Nicholas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pecém. Jeremy Nicholas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucio Austin in the 75th minute of play. Pecém's Denílson Leão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tio Lio in the 92nd minute of play. Tio Lio took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Denílson Leão. Denílson Leão dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1.
