The corner led Blue Mountain State's George Popescu to fire away a dangerous shot which Aybar Yalınayak despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. With an all-out effort, Basmane Texas's Robin Sharma threw himself towards the right post 45 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Eulalio Puskás, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 47 played minutes Basmane Texas got a freekick which was hit by Şahap Hicab. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Robin Sharma showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pierre Malet, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 54th minute, Pierre Malet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gösta Giliusson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Aybar Yalınayak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gösta Giliusson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Blue Mountain State's Robin Sharma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Hagi in the 84th minute of play. Basmane Texas made a substitution. Rıdvan Nistelrooy replaced Narciso Gombal. In the 95th minute Dino Berardino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aybar Yalınayak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Basmane Texas's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
