After some careless play in the Bulgaria defense, Torrey Molloy kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hristofor Borchev. The Bulgaria fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hristofor Borchev should have stopped the shot. Hristofor Borchev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brandan McWill in the 33rd minute of play. Hristofor Borchev didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Torrey Molloy went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Hristofor Borchev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Torrey Molloy, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. If Torrey Molloy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 42 played minutes Bulgaria got a freekick which was hit by Rafail Klenov.

Hristofor Borchev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brandan McWill in the 54th minute of play. 56 minutes into the game, Bulgaria's Denimir Tzonkov nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ter Stegen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Ter Stegen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafail Klenov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 61 minutes into the match, Denimir Tzonkov had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ter Stegen. Ireland's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Denimir Tzonkov was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Bulgaria made a substitution. Velichko Dúrov replaced Lachezar Kavaldzhiev. After having played for 71 minutes, Marko Ruskov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bulgaria's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marko Ruskov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marko Ruskov in the 78th minute of play forced Ireland's goalkeeper Ter Stegen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hristofor Borchev stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Phillip Hunt's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. Marko Ruskov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 85 minutes into the match, Ireland's goal looked a bit too open when Marko Ruskov came free, but Ter Stegen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hristofor Borchev made an important save on a dangerous shot by Torrey Molloy in the 88th minute. After 90 minutes Bulgaria's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jerome Boateng who took care of the corner kick. Rudy Lukas kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marko Ruskov in the 93rd minute of play forced Ireland's goalkeeper Ter Stegen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
