The crowd rose to their feet as The Valar's William Rigg slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Tiago Godoi. That made the score 1-0 after 5 minutes of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, William Rigg managed to get in a good position for a shot. The Valar's supporters rose to their feet, but William Rigg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tiago Godoi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when William Rigg got free with Tiago Godoi in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A well-hit corner resulted in Codruț Uncheşu heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. An unexpectedly hard shot by William Rigg in the 21st minute of play forced São Paulo F.C.'s goalkeeper Tiago Godoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, São Paulo F.C.'s Buba Seco got a free kick in the 23rd minute. São Paulo F.C.'s Tiago Godoi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save São Paulo F.C. from getting a goal against them. Tiago Godoi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Constantin Hrebenciuc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute The Valar were awarded a corner. Alfred Hajto went to the cornerflag to take it. An unexpectedly hard shot by William Rigg in the 38th minute of play forced São Paulo F.C.'s goalkeeper Tiago Godoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tristan Falco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kléber Cavalcante in the 42nd minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tiago Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from William Rigg in the 63rd minute of play. 64 minutes had been played when some careless play by São Paulo F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alfred Hajto was slow to take the kick. During this time The Valar's players had a chance to rest. 66 minutes into the game, The Valar's William Rigg nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tiago Godoi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. William Rigg struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Tiago Godoi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Valar. Tiago Godoi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of William Rigg's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind São Paulo F.C.'s goalkeeper Tiago Godoi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 75 minutes São Paulo F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Alfred Hajto who took care of the corner kick. Tiago Godoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from William Rigg in the 78th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling William Rigg in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tiago Godoi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, The Valar's Jonatan Maidana got a free kick in the 95th minute. Tristan Falco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kléber Cavalcante in the 96th minute. São Paulo F.C.'s players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
