After a rather tough play, Aagodts's Runar Fyhn got a free kick in the 13th minute. Morten Røkke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oddvar Jønsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. The supporters of Aagodts booed when Trondheim FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patrik Ramstad didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Kolstø in the 18th minute of play forced Trondheim FC's goalkeeper Ole-Petter Nærø to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute, one of Trondheim FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Trondheim FC. Ole-Petter Nærø made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nikolai Ree in the 25th minute of play. With his leg Morten Røkke managed to avoid a goal in the 38thth minute, when Trondheim FC's Patrik Ramstad fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Oddvar Jønsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Morten Røkke having to make a save. Trondheim FC's Ole-Petter Nærø played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathan Kolstø in the 49th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nikolai Ree to make the kick off. Ole-Petter Nærø made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nikolai Ree in the 55th minute of play. In the 56th match minute, Trondheim FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tage Haarstad to maneuver through the defense. Morten Røkke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrik Ramstad, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 62nd minute, Jon Granli hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Patrik Ramstad received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Morten Røkke tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Patrik Ramstad had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oddvar Jønsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jostein Aamodt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Morten Røkke tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 81 minutes into the match, Trondheim FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nikolai Ree came free, but Ole-Petter Nærø reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Morten Røkke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patrik Ramstad in the 83rd minute of the match. Ole-Petter Nærø didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fred Rue went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score.
