Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Kjartan Enge started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 4thth minute of the game Patrik Ramstad who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fredrikstad FK's Endre Evenstad was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ole-Petter Nærø didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kjartan Enge went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Endre Evenstad showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrik Ramstad, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Patrik Ramstad recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ole-Petter Nærø took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jørund Olstad, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With his leg Endre Evenstad managed to avoid a goal in the 22ndth minute, when Trondheim FC's Patrik Ramstad fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Patrik Ramstad could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Endre Evenstad made a huge save. Trondheim FC's Patrik Ramstad got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Sverre Synnes came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Trondheim FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sverre Synnes couldn't finish the play. Patrik Ramstads short, quick shot in the 37thth minute got Endre Evenstad to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 38th minute, Stig Røren left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Trondheim FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Patrik Ramstad sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ole-Petter Nærø showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trym Heggheim, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Patrik Ramstad to make the kick off. Jon Hammeren hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Trondheim FC's Tim Skråmestø tried to score from far away in the 54th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After 57 minutes, Patrik Ramstad made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Fredrikstad FK's Endre Evenstad tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Jon-Arne Mogen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Ole-Petter Nærø made a huge save. The Trondheim FC fans' excitement grew in the 68th match minute when Trondheim FC's Patrik Ramstad looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 72nd match minute, Trondheim FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tim Skråmestø to maneuver through the defense. In the 73rd minute, Tage Mentzoni sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Trondheim FC's Ole-Petter Nærø didn't even have to move. After a rather tough play, Trondheim FC's Jostein Aamodt got a free kick in the 74th minute. Ole-Petter Nærø was a little too slow when Trym Heggheim got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 78th minute. The score was now 4-2. When Patrik Ramstad came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Trondheim FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patrik Ramstad couldn't finish the play. 86 minutes into the match, Fredrikstad FK's goal looked a bit too open when Patrik Ramstad came free, but Endre Evenstad reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sverre Synnes took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Endre Evenstad. Endre Evenstad dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-2. In the 91st minute, Tage Mentzoni hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 93rd minute, Jon-Arne Mogen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jostein Aamodt struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Endre Evenstad didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Trondheim FC. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Trondheim FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Fredrikstad FK had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
