After 17 played minutes Sydney FC got a freekick which was hit by Julius Humann. 19 minutes into the game, Jörgen Åhlberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Onsala Ass Kickers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sydney FC the free kick. A collision led to Onsala Ass Kickers getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Jörgen Åhlberg hit a great ball. Sverker Hjälm might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wojtek Carl. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sverker Hjälm ran back to his position shaking his head. Wojtek Carl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sverker Hjälm in the 25th minute of the match. Don Küttner's late challenge caught a Onsala Ass Kickers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Don Küttner helped the player get up and apologised. When the match had been going on for 30 minutes, Onsala Ass Kickers's Vincent Nyström got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Wojtek Carl. Sverker Hjälm blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wojtek Carl having to make a save. 34 minutes into the match, Sydney FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sverker Hjälm came free, but Wojtek Carl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sydney FC's Wojtek Carl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sverker Hjälm in the 39th minute of play. Rune Norberg didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Thorben Rittmann went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Sverker Hjälm might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wojtek Carl. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sverker Hjälm ran back to his position shaking his head. Dennis Rzepka sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell David Odman to make the kick off. In the 55th match minute, Onsala Ass Kickers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jörgen Åhlberg to maneuver through the defense. Julius Humann took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 56th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rune Norberg. Onsala Ass Kickers's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sverker Hjälm during the 57th minute. In the 62nd match minute, Sydney FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Julius Humann to maneuver through the defense. Onsala Ass Kickers's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Vilhelm Ek in the 67th minute. The corner ended in Vilhelm Ek almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Sydney FC's Wojtek Carl did a great save. Marcello Karger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rune Norberg having to interfere.
