If Benicio Alonso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Brian Soria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ijaz Putāns, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. 8 minutes into the game, El Azulgrana's Ijaz Putāns nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Brian Soria made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 11th match minute, Formation Pure Lyonnaise was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Étienne Lebret to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in El Azulgrana's zone, Lenny Rumeau stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristian Urti came out of the goal and Lenny Rumeau tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Robert Garrigues's late challenge caught a El Azulgrana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Robert Garrigues helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of El Azulgrana booed when Formation Pure Lyonnaise was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robert Garrigues didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Benicio Alonso was the one to do the kick off. The Formation Pure Lyonnaise fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. El Azulgrana were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
