Ter Stegen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enzo Luongo in the 27th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Ireland's Lúcio da Silva got a free kick in the 27th minute. Ter Stegen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bar Olo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Darick Gillmour stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Oliver Bierhoff might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ter Stegen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Oliver Bierhoff ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match was over Italy could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ireland throughout the match.
