Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) When Mack Willson fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ireland's protests and gave Mack Willson a yellow card for diving instead. 5 minutes into the match, Enzo Luongo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Ireland's Ter Stegen. Ter Stegen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 9 minutes into the match, Ireland's goal looked a bit too open when Enzo Luongo came free, but Ter Stegen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enzo Luongo in the 9th minute of play forced Ireland's goalkeeper Ter Stegen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Italy's attentive Anfilogino Pantani managed to snatch the ball when Arnold McDecland made a throw-in in the 11th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mack Willson in the 18th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Bruno Antognoni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ireland's Lúcio da Silva quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Anfilogino Pantani, made in the 25th minute of the game. Ter Stegen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enzo Luongo in the 27th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Ireland's Lúcio da Silva got a free kick in the 27th minute. Ter Stegen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bar Olo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bar Olo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Ter Stegen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Darick Gillmour struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Bruno Antognoni didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ireland. Lúcio da Silva made in the 42nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Bradley Barrett however managed to control.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Darick Gillmour stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Enzo Luongo made a precise shot to the right of Ter Stegen. Ireland's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Lotan Frøne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Enzo Luongo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Ireland getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Mack Willson hit a great ball. Italy's Donato Zoccolo was substituted for Lotan Frøne. Ter Stegen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Oliver Bierhoff's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Italy's Bruno Antognoni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mack Willson in the 80th minute of play. Oliver Bierhoff might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ter Stegen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Oliver Bierhoff ran back to his position shaking his head. Ter Stegen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oliver Bierhoff, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. 90 minutes into the match, Ireland's goalkeeper Ter Stegen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oliver Bierhoff. In the 91st minute, Lúcio da Silva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ireland made a substitution. Torrey Molloy replaced Darick Gillmour. After a rather tough play, Ireland's Lúcio da Silva got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Oliver Bierhoff might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ter Stegen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oliver Bierhoff in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ter Stegen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Italy were awarded a corner in the 97th minute after Ireland's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Claudio Colucci took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Oliver Bierhoff got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ter Stegen quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Italy were awarded a corner in the 99th minute after Ireland's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Claudio Colucci took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Donato Zoccolo managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. When the match was over Italy could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ireland throughout the match.
