The supporters of Uruguay booed when Australia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elliott Virgin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 9th minute, Keefer Carragher hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 11 minutes, Agustín Álvarez took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Bryant Reina to make any attempt to save it. Bryant Reina made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Álvarez in the 15th minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, Australia's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Álvarez came free, but Bryant Reina reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bryant Reina stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Agustín Álvarez's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. 32 minutes into the game, Elliott Virgin threw the ball into play from the sideline. Uruguay's Primitivo Grau quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Agustín Álvarez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Bryant Reina made a huge save. If Conner Carragher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 40 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Conner Carragher came free, but Xove Tijerina reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 45 minutes into the game, Cordario Vivero was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Uruguay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Australia the free kick. In the 45th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cordario Vivero to maneuver through the defense.

Australia made a substitution. Edmundson Colling replaced Fletcher Greenan. Australia's Ray Hayward was substituted for Dallas Dalglish. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cherry Evans made a kick off. With a little luck, Uruguay's Xove Tijerina got control of the ball when Cherry Evans tried to sneak it across the goal line. Agustín Álvarez might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bryant Reina. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Agustín Álvarez ran back to his position shaking his head. Bryant Reina showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Álvarez, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Uruguay's Berenguer Anda was substituted for Yaniusky Pardo. Uruguay's Rosario Cepa was substituted for Agustín Álvarez. After 60 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Uruguay! Uruguay:s Xove Tijerina showed great skill when he stopped Oliver Rizzo:s penalty. Edmundson Colling fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xove Tijerina having to interfere. Cherry Evanss short, quick shot in the 79thth minute got Xove Tijerina to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Cherry Evans received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Xove Tijerina came out and tried to block the shot, but Cherry Evans slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 80th minute. In the 88th minute Rosario Cepa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bryant Reina saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cherry Evans in the 89th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Xove Tijerina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bryant Reina showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rosario Cepa, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. 93 minutes into the match, Australia's goal looked a bit too open when Rosario Cepa came free, but Bryant Reina reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 94 minutes Australia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Solustiano Blea who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Berenguer Anda heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The Australia supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Australia would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
