Sport Lisboa e Benfica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilson Dantas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nedelcho Petlichkov's late challenge caught a Sport Lisboa e Benfica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nedelcho Petlichkov helped the player get up and apologised. In the 63rd match minute, ЦСКА was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nedelcho Petlichkov to maneuver through the defense. The ball had pretty good speed, but Anzhelo Gerushin firmly grabbed it by the left post. When Nedelcho Petlichkov came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the ЦСКА fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nedelcho Petlichkov couldn't finish the play. After taking down the ball on Sport Lisboa e Benfica's corner Márcio Linhares fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Anzhelo Gerushin quite easily take care of the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Sport Lisboa e Benfica walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
