After 37 minutes, Gigi Bobei mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca and the Algarrobo players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Gigi Bobei got a free kick in the 37th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hugo Orlando Urbina in the 39th minute of play forced PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Valer Onișoru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Juan Ignacio Vera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iulian Stroe kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. José Chilavert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Octavian Chiriacescu in the 46th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Virgil Jupân to strike the kick off in the second half. Codruț Macaneață kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Edmundo Cañas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Valer Onișoru made a huge save. 56 minutes into the match, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goal looked a bit too open when Rafael Nadal came free, but Valer Onișoru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valer Onișoru made an important save on a dangerous shot by Juan Ignacio Vera in the 60th minute. Algarrobo made a substitution. Wilfredo Marchetti replaced Rafael Nadal. Diego Armando Lamb received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. José Chilavert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 73 minutes had been played when some careless play by Algarrobo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Phoenix Phoenix was slow to take the kick. During this time PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Algarrobo's goalie and right to Sebastian Culcer. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Algarrobo's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Wilfredo Marchetti managed to get in a good position for a shot. Algarrobo's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilfredo Marchetti was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valer Onișoru breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 79th minute, Wilfredo Marchetti got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 86th minute, Edmundo Cañas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Valer Onișoru was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. Valer Onișoru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilfredo Marchetti in the 90th minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Edmundo Cañas notched a goal, 0-7, to the right of PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Valer Onișoru. Valer Onișoru was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Algarrobo were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
