When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Pes Sotolongo took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Stephen Balaunde to make any attempt to save it. Rodolfo Madariaga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chan Arcaya, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rodolfo Madariaga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chan Arcaya in the 12th minute of play. Rodolfo Madariaga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chan Arcaya in the 15th minute of the match. Rodolfo Madariaga came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atletico Nacional's Gonsalvo Dean. But to his dismay, Gonsalvo Dean quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Chan Arcaya sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Chan Arcaya had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Valledelcauca Depor's goalkeeper Rodolfo Madariaga, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Chan Arcaya stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brais Verganza in the 52nd minute of play forced Club Atletico Nacional's goalkeeper Stephen Balaunde to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Americo Seca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 76 played minutes Club Atletico Nacional got a freekick which was hit by Leon Londoño. Valledelcauca Depor's Rodolfo Madariaga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chan Arcaya in the 79th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Brais Verganza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Valledelcauca Depor's supporters rose to their feet, but Brais Verganza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stephen Balaunde breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Club Atletico Nacional getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Ursino Mina hit a great ball. Stephen Balaunde showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brais Verganza in the 92nd minute of the match. Chan Arcaya scored 1-2 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rodolfo Madariaga, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Club Atletico Nacional's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
