Spectators: 5315 (Terracing: 4100, Seating: 1200, VIP seats: 15) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Diogo Baptista kicked off to start the match. The supporters of Manguinhos EC booed when Corinthians was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doni de Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 19th minute of the match Juan Matos sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Giovani de Azevedo skillfully saved the ball. 21 minutes into the match, Manguinhos EC's goalkeeper Celsinho Almeida had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ricardinho Linares. Maurinho Prata took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Giovani de Azevedo. Giovani de Azevedo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Váldson Ortiz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Giovani de Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fernandão Loureiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Giovani de Azevedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Váldson Ortiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tião Guimarães kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Giovani de Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Váldson Ortiz, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 36th match minute, Corinthians was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tião Guimarães to maneuver through the defense. In the 37th minute of the match Luís Fábio Tróia sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Giovani de Azevedo skillfully saved the ball. Celsinho Almeida breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Maurinho Prata stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Giovani de Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maurinho Prata, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. After 63 minutes of play, Corinthians's Telmo Tinoco made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
