Serra Futebol Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fortaleza EC the free kick. Nildo Rodrigues kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benjamin Mineiro in the 21st minute of play forced Serra Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Robinho Soeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nildo Rodrigues's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 23rdth minute, Zézinho Neves skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Benjamin Mineiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robinho Soeiro having to interfere. Fortaleza EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Umberto Vander was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The ball had pretty good speed, but Zézinho Neves firmly grabbed it by the left post.

After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Válter Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 62nd minute Pedro Luiz Salgado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zézinho Neves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zézinho Neves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nildo Rodrigues's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nildo Rodrigues in the 71st minute of play forced Fortaleza EC's goalkeeper Zézinho Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 78th minute, Fortaleza EC's Umberto Vander ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Robinho Soeiro. Waldir Rosado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zézinho Neves having to interfere. In the 86th minute of the match Abelardo Prata sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zézinho Neves skillfully saved the ball. Umberto Vander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Fortaleza EC's Zézinho Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nildo Rodrigues in the 97th minute of play. Serra Futebol Clube were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Fortaleza EC for a fine match.
