The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 17th minute of the game. One of Cuevas FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Claypole:s goal. The referee gave Claypole a penalty, 19 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Braulio Modestio, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Cuevas FC's Benicio Edorta. 1-2. Severo Ugutz hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pablo Montxo got free with Andres Cilio in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 27th minute Edgardo Cordero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benicio Edorta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pablo Montxo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Andres Cilio made a huge save. After 34 minutes of play, Claypole's Anibal Pudes made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Andres Cilio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Braulio Handi in the 43rd minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The Claypole fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-7. Claypole's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
