The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 played minutes San Lorenzo got a freekick which was hit by Gerardo Rubio. Fabio Galsino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Fidel Mendebal made a huge save. 18 minutes into the game, Oscar Paulin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Minacar's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave San Lorenzo the free kick. The supporters of San Lorenzo booed when Minacar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oscar Paulin didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The goalkeeper, Victoriano Lopez, was totally fooled by Minacar's Faustino Florian, who 80 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 91st minute, San Lorenzo's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Florencio Monico fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Minacar were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over San Lorenzo's much stronger midfield.
