Conny Tolsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jörn Lindström having to interfere. When Conny Tolsson fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Aston Villa FC's protests and gave Conny Tolsson a yellow card for diving instead. In the 65th match minute, Aston Villa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Conny Tolsson to maneuver through the defense. Kåre Hellström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvald Björk in the 68th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Conny Tolsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kåre Hellström didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Osvald Björk went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Despite being the better team, Aston Villa FC failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
