Hartfrid Reiner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 22 minutes, Carsten Thomale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. 1.CFR Pforzheim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carsten Thomale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 25 minutes into the match, Armando Bähr notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Hannover City's Jack Seyller. Jack Seyller was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 32 minutes into the match, Hannover City's goal looked a bit too open when Carsten Thomale came free, but Jack Seyller reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 33rd minute, Carsten Thomale ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jack Seyller was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After having played for 38 minutes, Carsten Thomale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. 1.CFR Pforzheim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carsten Thomale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jack Seyller made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Max Wagefeld in the 42nd minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hartfrid Reiner was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Hartfrid Reiner left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hannover City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Through an outstanding action, after 59 minutes, Jack Seyller successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 62 minutes into the match, Hannover City's goalkeeper Jack Seyller had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carsten Thomale. 65 minutes into the game, Ehrhard Brunkhorst was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hannover City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave 1.CFR Pforzheim the free kick. The supporters of 1.CFR Pforzheim booed when Hannover City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ehrhard Brunkhorst didn't get a good kick on the ball. 1-3 became the score in the 68th minute when Max Wagefeld elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Max Wagefeld could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Jack Seyller made a huge save. Ronald Krause did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-4 to the left of a surprised Jack Seyller 74 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Max Wagefeld managed to get in a good position for a shot. 1.CFR Pforzheim's supporters rose to their feet, but Max Wagefeld was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jack Seyller breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Carsten Thomale's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jack Seyller read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. In the 92nd match minute, Hannover City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ehrhard Brunkhorst to maneuver through the defense. In the 95th minute of the match 1.CFR Pforzheim got a corner. Hannover City's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Andrej Frommermann ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Armando Bähr managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. The Hannover City fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. 1.CFR Pforzheim were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
