In the 4thth minute of the game Josef Trachsel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fortuna Dresden FC's Benjamin Franke was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 5th minute, Benjamin Röbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fortuna Dresden FC's Benjamin Franke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Conni Tetzner in the 6th minute of play. Benjamin Franke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Holger Wohlert in the 10th minute of the match. Eugen Gelb made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Balan Gonzáles in the 12th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Karsten Pleschke managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fortuna Dresden FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Karsten Pleschke was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eugen Gelb breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 15 minutes, Carter Caretti mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fortuna Dresden FC and the Karlsruher SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Karlsruher SC's Eugen Gelb proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Karlsruher SC from getting a goal against them. 19 minutes into the game, Holger Wohlert was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Karlsruher SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fortuna Dresden FC the free kick. After 20 played minutes Karlsruher SC got a freekick which was hit by Holger Wohlert. If Karsten Pleschke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Karsten Pleschke fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fortuna Dresden FC's protests and gave Karsten Pleschke a yellow card for diving instead. Karsten Pleschke kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Delf Engelmeier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomáš Bacho's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 35thth minute, Eugen Gelb skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Eugen Gelb didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomáš Bacho went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Benjamin Franke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Conni Tetzner, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Tomáš Bacho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Eugen Gelb tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Eugen Gelb took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomáš Bacho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 56 played minutes Fortuna Dresden FC got a freekick which was hit by Delf Engelmeier. Eugen Gelb showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomáš Bacho in the 59th minute of the match. In the 62nd match minute, Fortuna Dresden FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dino Corleone to maneuver through the defense. Benjamin Franke came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Karlsruher SC's Josef Trachsel. Eugen Gelb came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Fortuna Dresden FC's Balan Gonzáles. But to his dismay, Balan Gonzáles quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. After 72 played minutes Fortuna Dresden FC got a freekick which was hit by Dino Corleone. The audience was convinced that Tomáš Bacho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eugen Gelb was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. Conni Tetzner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Delf Engelmeier was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 82 minutes had been played. After a rather tough play, Karlsruher SC's Heinz-Gerd Horsmann got a free kick in the 85th minute. Benjamin Franke made an important save on a dangerous shot by Conni Tetzner in the 88th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Karlsruher SC's zone, Balan Gonzáles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eugen Gelb came out of the goal and Balan Gonzáles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Fortuna Dresden FC's Benjamin Röbert got a free kick in the 94th minute. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Fortuna Dresden FC had played much better football throughout.
