Putu Romatua started the match with the kick off. Widodo Ginting made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Uum Ie sent off a good shot on target. 5 minutes into the game, Hendrawan Kaban was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Under Star FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sabah the free kick. The supporters of Sabah booed when Under Star FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hendrawan Kaban didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sabah's Uum Ie got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Sabah getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Ari Pane hit a great ball. 8 minutes into the match, Sabah's goal looked a bit too open when Kia Ie came free, but Donny Reza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 9 minutes into the game, one of Sabah:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Tono Haryanto-Ie shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Widodo Ginting was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Hastomo Sembiring. Widodo Ginting took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bongky Sitepu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ari Pane's late challenge caught a Under Star FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ari Pane helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Sabah's Ari Pane got a free kick in the 17th minute. After 21 played minutes Under Star FC got a freekick which was hit by Kia Ie. Bongky Sitepu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 25 minutes into the game, Kia Ie cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Donny Reza was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Donny Reza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Putu Romatua in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Bongky Sitepu fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Widodo Ginting, passed just outside the right post. Donny Reza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kia Ie in the 40th minute of play. In the 41st minute Kia Ie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donny Reza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Donny Reza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kia Ie in the 44th minute of the match. Putu Romatua received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Donny Reza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Under Star FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Widodo Ginting came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Sabah's Bongky Sitepu. But to his dismay, Bongky Sitepu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Uum Ie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Widodo Ginting tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hardy Darwis during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Under Star FC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Hardy Darwis hit a great ball. Widodo Ginting showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Uum Ie in the 61st minute of the match. A hard shot 65 in the game by Kia Ie from a close distance when the talented Donny Reza managed to make a qualified save. Sabah's players were relieved. Widodo Ginting made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bongky Sitepu in the 68th minute of play. 70 minutes into the match, Under Star FC's goal looked a bit too open when Bongky Sitepu came free, but Widodo Ginting reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 87th minute, Rexy Ginting hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 88th minute, Uum Ie made a precise shot to the right of Widodo Ginting. Under Star FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. 92 minutes into the match, Sabah's goalkeeper Donny Reza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kia Ie.
