The audience thought a goal was coming when Jóann Sindrason got free with Bernd Yuschni in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The corner led U21 Iceland's Friðjón Ingason to fire away a dangerous shot which Bernd Yuschni despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 13th minute, U21 Iceland's Ævar Helgason dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Bernd Yuschni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ævar Helgason in the 16th minute of play. U21 Iceland's Parmes Ketilsson got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Maximilian Seemayer hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. After 24 minutes of play, U21 Iceland's Jóann Sindrason made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bernd Yuschni was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 29th minute of the match, Jóann Sindrason got a very nice opportunity to score, but Bernd Yuschni was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 30 minutes into the match, U21 Iceland's goal looked a bit too open when Andre Kraft came free, but Herbjörn Garpsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, U21 Iceland's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Tschida came free, but Herbjörn Garpsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. U21 Austria's Hubert Finken was substituted for Andre Kraft. The wind increased when Hubert Finken made the kick off in the second half. Hubert Finkens short, quick shot in the 53rdth minute got Herbjörn Garpsson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Hubert Finken who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 55thth minute tested the skills of Herbjörn Garpsson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Werner Meer received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Herbjörn Garpsson came out and tried to block the shot, but Werner Meer slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 57th minute. Ovidiu Bal hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. 64 minutes into the match, U21 Iceland's Friðjón Ingason broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. U21 Austria's Bernd Yuschni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jóann Sindrason in the 73rd minute of play. 74 minutes into the game, Jóann Sindrason was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Iceland's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Austria the free kick. In the 75th minute of the match Rüdiger Stanke shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Herbjörn Garpsson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Hubert Finken's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Herbjörn Garpsson was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ævar Helgason in the 81st minute of play forced U21 Austria's goalkeeper Bernd Yuschni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jóann Sindrason hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Hubert Finken's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Herbjörn Garpsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Herbjörn Garpsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Tschida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute, Rüdiger Stanke hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Uni Gunnarsson hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. U21 Iceland had won after a very even match.
