U21 Iceland's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Samak Methmanus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 14 minutes of play, U21 Thailand's Traiphob Yati made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Brimar Theódórsson was left in no man's land by his defense there! 17 minutes into the game, Snær Ingvarsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Iceland's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Thailand the free kick. Brimar Theódórsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tawan Maspakorn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20th minute U21 Thailand were awarded a corner. Sombat Temtanapunya went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Sombat Temtanapunya got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Brimar Theódórsson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Athip Charoenpol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Snær Ingvarsson in the 21st minute of play. In the 24th match minute, U21 Iceland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Snær Ingvarsson to maneuver through the defense. U21 Thailand's Athip Charoenpol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sumarliði Goðmundsson in the 26th minute of play. Brimar Theódórsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Traiphob Yati went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Traiphob Yati's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Brimar Theódórsson was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. 42 minutes into the match, Tawan Maspakorn notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of U21 Iceland's Brimar Theódórsson. Brimar Theódórsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 48th minute, Traiphob Yati left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Thailand fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kristinn Ingimundarson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Snær Ingvarsson was shown his second yellow card after 52 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 53 played minutes U21 Iceland got a freekick which was hit by Snær Ingvarsson. After 55 played minutes Samak Methmanus rounded U21 Iceland's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-6. U21 Iceland's Klemens Orrason was substituted for Ísak Jóngeirsson. A collision led to U21 Thailand getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Phongthanet Kaewprapan hit a great ball. Brimar Theódórsson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tawan Maspakorn in the 63rd minute. 66 minutes into the match, U21 Iceland's goal looked a bit too open when Sakarin Kulsiri came free, but Brimar Theódórsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 72 minutes into the game, Sumarliði Goðmundsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-6. Athip Charoenpol was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sumarliði Goðmundsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Athip Charoenpol having to interfere. 81 minutes into the game, Traiphob Yati recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Brimar Theódórsson. Traiphob Yati showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-7. Athip Charoenpol took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kristinn Ingimundarson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Samak Methmanus took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Brimar Theódórsson. Brimar Theódórsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-8. When the final whistle sounded U21 Thailand left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than U21 Iceland.
