Zenon Erkovich made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Arūnas Mečionis sent off a good shot on target. Zenon Erkovich showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jokūbas Dovydauskas in the 9th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Igor Lamashkevich in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zenonas Kuprevičius saved Lithuania from getting behind. Daugirdas Bračas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jokūbas Dovydauskas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Belarus's goalkeeper Zenon Erkovich, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The corner led Lithuania's Jokūbas Dovydauskas to a score. 1-0 in the 19th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jokūbas Dovydauskas in the 26th minute of play forced Belarus's goalkeeper Zenon Erkovich to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Belarus's Zenon Erkovich proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Belarus from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Belarus's zone, Arūnas Mečionis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zenon Erkovich came out of the goal and Arūnas Mečionis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 34th minute Liavon Kuzmich shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zenonas Kuprevičius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zenonas Kuprevičius showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Liavon Kuzmich, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 39thth minute of the game Liavon Kuzmich who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lithuania's Zenonas Kuprevičius was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Dangiras Skarulis fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lithuania's protests and gave Dangiras Skarulis a yellow card for diving instead. 40 minutes into the game, one of Lithuania:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Pavel Kamenich placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Darijus Kibildis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Zenon Erkovich having to make a save. After 46 played minutes Lithuania got a freekick which was hit by Nedas Jazukevičius. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Igor Lamashkevich made a kick off. Vseslav Slipchanko's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zenonas Kuprevičius read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. Zenonas Kuprevičius was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Vseslav Slipchanko showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 57 minute of play. Pavel Kamenich sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 67 minutes into the match, Lithuania's goalkeeper Zenonas Kuprevičius had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pavel Kamenich. The audience was convinced that Arūnas Mečionis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zenon Erkovich was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. Zenon Erkovich made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arūnas Mečionis in the 73rd minute of play. 76 minutes into the game, Liavon Kuzmich recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Zenonas Kuprevičius. Liavon Kuzmich showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. Belarus made a substitution. Juljan Demchenko replaced Vseslav Slipchanko. Zenon Erkovich didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Motiejus Drąsutis went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. The corner ended in Gvidonas Plakys almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Belarus's Zenon Erkovich did a great save. Lithuania's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
