In the 16th minute Peter Teuws shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Octavio Canales saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Baldomiro Gamarra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Corné Heida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. Netherlands were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
