Nestor Amezua made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Abar in the 5th minute of play. After 7 minutes Colombia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Cristofor Abaurre who took care of the corner kick. After a rather tough play, Bolivia's Arnaldo Abancens got a free kick in the 7th minute. Colombia's Nestor Amezua played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teo Abastas in the 9th minute of play. When Colombia's Arnaldo Benitez in the 17th minute got a chance for a shot 17th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bolivia's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Benitez in the 35th minute of play forced Bolivia's goalkeeper Huly Abar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Despite this Huly Abar quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After 43 minutes of play, Colombia's Arnaldo Benitez made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Huly Abar was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half Colombia were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Colombia's Lopez Imendia was substituted for Elazar Busto. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paulo Abar to strike the kick off in the second half. If Radamel-Falcao Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Huly Abar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Radamel-Falcao Garcia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Huly Abar was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rey Feloaga got free with Huly Abar in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Colombia played a much better game than Bolivia and deserved their victory. The Bolivia players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
