Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Emrah Newell took the kick off in the first half of the match. 6 minutes into the match, U21 Australia's goalkeeper Steve Panetta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Resul Kılıc. In the 6th play minute Resul Kılıc came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Steve Panetta. 1-0. A collision led to U21 Turkey getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Oğuz Esenchuk hit a great ball. In the 11th minute, U21 Turkey's Resul Kılıc dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. U21 Australia's Steve Panetta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Levent Aksungur in the 15th minute of play. Batı İleri struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Steve Panetta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Turkey. 19 minutes into the match, U21 Australia's goal looked a bit too open when Emrah Newell came free, but Steve Panetta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Steve Panetta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emrah Newell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 26 minutes into the game, Emrah Newell recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Steve Panetta. Emrah Newell showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. U21 Turkey's Cüneyt Mutlu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ray Cusbert in the 30th minute of play. Oğuz Esenchuk took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Steve Panetta. Steve Panetta dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Steve Panetta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Levent Aksungur, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Steve Panetta made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Resul Kılıc sent off a good shot on target. Steve Panetta was a little too slow when Levent Aksungur got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 39th minute. The score was now 5-0. In the 43rd minute of the match, Resul Kılıc got a very nice opportunity to score, but Steve Panetta was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. U21 Australia's Steve Panetta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Levent Aksungur in the 46th minute of play.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Neville Burmeister to make the kick off. Cüneyt Mutlu was a little too slow when Pearce Hines got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 57th minute. The score was now 5-1. U21 Turkey's Kutlay Varan was substituted for Münir Öktürk. U21 Turkey made a substitution. Ahmet Hakan Zeynur replaced Emrah Newell. The supporters of U21 Turkey booed when U21 Australia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ray Cusbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. U21 Turkey were awarded a corner in the 69th minute after U21 Australia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Roberto-Carlos Aşkın took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Batı İleri got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Steve Panetta quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Levent Aksungur sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Crawford Isaac hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Levent Aksungur's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Steve Panetta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. In the 90th match minute, U21 Australia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Neville Conlan to maneuver through the defense. When Levent Aksungur came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the U21 Turkey fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Levent Aksungur couldn't finish the play. U21 Turkey's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
