Samet İlkan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Brazil. In the 26th match minute, U21 Turkey was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Evren Akbey to maneuver through the defense. U21 Brazil's Sérgio Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Refik Halit Bayezit in the 40th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Nunes in the 80th minute of play forced U21 Turkey's goalkeeper Samet İlkan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Refik Halit Bayezit managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Turkey's supporters rose to their feet, but Refik Halit Bayezit was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. If Gökalp Adalı had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The U21 Turkey fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Samet İlkan should have stopped the shot. In the 96th minute, Paulinho Kroos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The U21 Turkey supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing U21 Turkey would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
