Spectators: 13604 (Terracing: 10000, Seating: 3316, VIP seats: 288) Jørn Wøien started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. When Felix Josefsen came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Norway fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Josefsen couldn't finish the play. In the 4thth minute of the game Felix Josefsen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Mauricio Lizanein was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Espen Nese came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Norway fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Espen Nese couldn't finish the play. Norway's Jostein Moe pulled a muscle in his back after 8 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 10 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by David Luis. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Xacobo Balmaceda in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Odd Rydland prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jørn Wøien's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mauricio Lizanein read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. After 15 minutes, Jørn Wøien made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Mauricio Lizanein tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 18 minutes into the match, Norway's goal looked a bit too open when López Lombana came free, but Odd Rydland reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 20th minute, López Lombana left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Mauricio Lizanein stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jørn Wøien's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Felix Josefsen scored 1-2 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mauricio Lizanein, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Felix Josefsen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mauricio Lizanein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Josefsen in the 29th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Felix Josefsen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Norway's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Josefsen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mauricio Lizanein breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mauricio Lizanein came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by Norway's Felix Josefsen. But to his dismay, Felix Josefsen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Felix Josefsen managed to get in a good position for a shot. After the first half Norway were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Ecuador's Aires Cota was substituted for Reasco Villaverde. The wind increased when Xacobo Balmaceda made the kick off in the second half. Odd Rydland showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kléber Letamendi in the 54th minute of the match. Runar Øvergård hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Norway:s Odd Rydland showed great skill when he stopped Texeira Bergada:s penalty. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kléber Letamendi in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Odd Rydland saved Norway from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kléber Letamendi in the 65th minute of play forced Norway's goalkeeper Odd Rydland to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Odd Rydland showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kléber Letamendi, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jørn Wøien in the 67th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Mauricio Lizanein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kléber Letamendi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Odd Rydland having to make a save. Odd Rydland made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xacobo Balmaceda in the 70th minute of play. Ecuador's Kléber Letamendi got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mauricio Lizanein took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jørn Wøien, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Norway's Johan Helgerud got a free kick in the 81st minute. Runar Øvergård made in the 86th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Ecuador's Blanco Urriola. The audience was convinced that Kléber Letamendi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Odd Rydland was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. In the 90th minute Kléber Letamendi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Odd Rydland saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 99 minutes into the match, Norway's goal looked a bit too open when Texeira Bergada came free, but Odd Rydland reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Norway eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
