MZUSA leagues are funny creatures. I believe originally it was top team goes up, bottom team goes down, but with the turnover in the leagues (and teams dropping out of MZ for various reasons) there seems to be little relegation and usually 3 or 4 (or more) teams which move up. As the USA managers become more active and greater interest in the MZUSA FL's develop it may get back to 1 up 1 down, but I don't foresee that in the very near future.

One final note about the MZUSA FL's - no one is usually relegated from the D League.

Congrats to dowopado for reaching the USA U21 National Cup. I'd wish you luck but as your opponent I'm not sure that would be my wisest move.
On another note of personal success, I was finally able to hire a new coach with 9 ball control for $4K less than my current coach in this position. The old coach was released today and had 9 BC and 9 Shooting and should show up on the available coaches sometime in the next week if anyone is looking for such a trainer.

thanks tree_amigos. congrats to you too.
i am looking for 9 ball coaches. i have three for speed, stamina, keeping and shooting. but i am looking for tackling 9 ballers. maybe bc , too. want to dump a lot of my lesser coaches that have already served their purpose.
thats smart shopping for the $4K savings. like shopping at wal-mart instead of macy's. lol

Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By tree_amigos - 02-09-2011 23:51
Yep, I started out trying to get any 4 star 9 ball coaches that filled the needs I had for my seniors and the I started trying to find similar coaches which were available for cheaper prices. $4K is by far the biggest wage cut I've managed for a coaching postion though, usually my savings were in the $1K to $2K range. Over the last 3 or 4 seasons, I've really done well in terms of cutting coaching costs without sacrificing quality. Bidding low results in not getting the coach more times than not which is why I gathered those I needed first at whatever cost it required and then worked to find those willing to work for less.
Even for my youth squad I'm trying to find similar coaches at lower prices. I found that I'm able to meet some of my needs with 2 star coaches at the youth level for a much better price than 3 star coaches. For speed and stamina at the youth level I had to stick with 3 star to get really good results before the players turn 18.

Well deserved congratulations are in order for Dowopado in winning the U21 Natl Cup and he is now off to face the winners of the other Natl U21 cup for the title of best u21 cup in the world. Best of luck in the international cup, I think I can speak for most other USA managers when I say we're pulling for you.663

Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By dowopado - 04-09-2011 19:53
Thank you. I did not realize winning the cup also carries a burden of responsibility to perform for my country. Being my first one, and not having the foggest notion of winning it, I never read that this included international competition.
Thank you all for your support. Hopefully my team is up for the competition.
Glad the cat didn't type 3 6's.

I too am glad he didn't hit triple 6's. Given the way he acts sometimes I wonder if that wasn't his true intention.

For those that are not aware now we have an official Crew Zone

Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By tree_amigos - 14-09-2011 03:43
I'll bite - is this a Zone where the Crew tell us what has been happening and what's coming up? Or is it more about how their teams are doing and what competitions they're in?
Also, for those with prior experience, is $600K to much to pay for a 9ball 20 yr old keeper with only 2 speed and 1 stamina? My next best prospect from my youth is maxed at 7 and my current senior keeper is 33 so retirement isn't too far away.
-
Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By dowopado - 14-09-2011 05:24
No experience but from what I have seen in the market a week ago for $600K I think you can do better. On the other hand its a young keeper that would be with you for a long time. Hopefully he has some PI and BC. Generally, I rather spend money on young players more so than older than 26. Sure wish I had 600K to spend. lol

Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By tree_amigos - 14-09-2011 13:03
It's taken me a long time to get there and I had to sell off a number of players with good skills (but who were maxed) to amass that kind of money. Sad part is, even though I'm sitting on a big pot of money right now, I know how quickly it can get spent and I'm still tracking future balances to make sure I'm able to make it through the off seasons.
-
Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By tree_amigos - 14-09-2011 13:08
Plan is to keep my new keeper for 10+ seasons unless I encounter bad maxings or he is surpassed by one of the 2 keepers who recently graduated to the senior squad but are still developing their keeping (one is on 4 and the other 5 balls). Depending on where they max, I'll keep developing them or sell them off in the next season or two.
-
Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By dowopado - 14-09-2011 17:11
Sounds like a plan. I also sold a couple players which helped get my account balance up to a comfortable level. Just playing the game and training til the end of the season to save even more cash. Then I need to surf the market for a strong keeper and maybe a couple more positions. Might even sell one of my foreign players to open the full range of the market. Maybe even two depending on any maxings.
-
Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By tree_amigos - 14-09-2011 22:37
That's how I managed to get this keeper. Sold off an older (28) foreiegn defender whom I had replaced with a comparable younger (21) domestic defender which opened up the foreign slot. I'm also trying to get it so that more of my players can complete in multiple of the various Uxx competitions so I don't have to carry such a heavy wage bill.
Sold off a number of players who had passed the 23 yr mark but weren't strong enough to make the full senior team when the U23 National cup ended.
-
Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By dowopado - 15-09-2011 00:43
With a moderate wage bill and limited number of players for the U21 and U23 competitions, keeping my tc's full, I have to buy a player before I can sell a player. Kinda like being between a rock and a hard place. But I don't want to interrupt my U21 team til after the world cup, and now we have the U23 National Cup coming up. Only have 4 players over 23, and they are strong players I need for div 3 when I get promoted.

Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By tree_amigos - 15-09-2011 13:19
I find myself reviewing where my players are placed in my tactics (how often are they used, are they used for important games or just in friendlies) to evaluate whether they are worth keeping on. Earlier this season I found I was carrying 2 players whom I rarely used and never in imprtant matches so I was able to let them go. Now my roster is mostly made of players involved in the Uxx cups or crucial to the senior side. I still have a handful that I'm using in the U21 cups who will be sold once they're overage as they aren't good enough to make the senior side.
On the other hand, I also have some players who play both U21 cups and with the seniors and I need to watch their form pretty closely so I'm not overusing them.

There is so much that has to be considered and watched in making decisions. To thoroughly enjoy this game, I don't think its a casual user type of game. It's an ongoing continuous type of game.
A classic semi final matchup in the Division Cup Season 39. Top 4 active div 4 teams: Brick City(Peronne); Warrensville; FC Cloud-cukoo-land; Casino Royale. Ought to be interesting. I feel like I am outclassed because their player values are much higher than mine. Oh well!!!! at least there is extra income to be collected.

Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By aristophanes3310 - 16-09-2011 01:08
Good luck, dowopado. But team value isn't everything. My team is relatively expensive, but just ask Warrensville how that has worked out for me! (haha... as he said to me, his team always seems to beat mine in important games, but I think I'm like 7-0 against him in instant match challenges. After I lose an official match to him, I do a couple challenges to soothe my ego.)

Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By tree_amigos - 29-09-2011 03:53
Well, somehow I am still afloat in D2. But only by a thread. If the team below me ties again (or if by some miracle I win) then I'm in the relegation playoffs and might have a chance of staying up. Otherwise, I'm into the drop zone and headed back to D3.
If I drop I'll be selling an aging 10 ball keeper and going with a young 9 ball keeper who needs a lot of secondary skills but should be good enough to fill the role in D3. Hopefully that will be enough selling to cover the lost income, otherwise I have some tough choices to make.
-
Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By dowopado - 29-09-2011 06:14
Mr E--I don't understand. D2 means you will be playing for promotion??? Otherwise you just stay in D, unless 3rd thru 11 get dropped???? I think you are just testing to see if we can read and comprehend. lol I'm almost as smart as a 5th grader.

Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By tree_amigos - 30-09-2011 03:51
Sorry for the confusion dowopado, D2 is short for Division 2. I'm currently in the last relegation playoff spot with 25 points. The team below me has 22 points and a better goal differential. He also has the better chance of winning Sunday which would put him in the last relegation playoff spot based on goal difference. And I would drop to Division 3.

Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By tree_amigos - 02-10-2011 19:15
Ah ha! My posting the tables right before that probably added to the misconfusication. Unfortunately I lost my last league game and will be dropping to Div 3. pending some unforeseen miracle. Debating if I should put my keeper on the TL now or wait until day 85 to make sure I'm actually dropping divisions. Probably will sell him rather than carry his salary for 2 more weeks, maybe a team pushing for a promotion would find him useful and be willing to pay for him.
-
Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5
By dowopado - 03-10-2011 00:00
Getting promoted to Div 3 but I won't be looking for another promotion beyond that for a couple seasons. Maybe with another purchase or two I will have good enough team to avoid relegation and give me 2 or 3 seasons to build up enough income to strengthen the team for a promotion to Div 2. Don't really know, its all speculation.

I would be willing to coordinate the C league. There are also 2 people who have indicated interest and are on the waiting list. Things have been really quite over here lately so I'm not sure how many people will chime in.

YIKES!!!!!! Lost in the 1st round of the U21 Football Championship Playoff to a very strong Norway team, IL Froya 0-5. Was no way my team could match up to all his U21's.
@acf69--I would be willing to take care of the D league if you don't have anyone.
It has been really dead on this federation. Hopefully the interest is there.

I saw that, he's actually in my D2/D3 qualifying group. It looks like what happened is that he was leading his league and needed a win against a team that was much inferior on the final day. He ended up getting a draw, but now he's renamed the team again and I think he's gonna stick it out. He ended up selling some of his better young players tho

Re: MZUSA FEDERATION #5

I have read a lot of comments on the New Sims thread in the Manager Talk forum but not very many from USA managers. Curios as to what is the general consenses of the USA managers on the implementation of the new sims.
Me, I have reservations about it in the current 1.84 version. Not enough wing action plus lot of ping pong action in the middle. Plus dull to watch with all that quick passing. Plus the sims controls the action to minimize the scoring. Seems too random which scares me in avoiding relegation in my newly promoted div 3. Plus I have doubts about spending large amounts of money on the market to get a highly skilled player if its not going to make any difference on the field.
