To be honest, Zagallo's contribution to the Football was greater than Beckenbauer. He Is the only person with 3 titles of the World Cup, both as trainer and player. Obviously, Europe is better known and give more importance to the German one. But. Beckenbauer é aquele corrupto que pagou o suborno para haver a Copa na Alemanha em 206 e só não foi preso porque prescreveu em 2016 antes de ser punido, né? Contribuição mediana para o futebol. Add up the World Cups that Germany has and they won't be able to surpass the ones that Zagallo won. This fact alone would deserve a giant tribute. For anyone who likes football, he is a football legend. Isn't he among the 10 best Brazilian players? Do you have any idea what it's like to be among the 10 best Brazilian players? haha ha

Let me teach my little friend a little about football: Pelé was extremely contested and would perhaps be a reserve in 1970 for Tostão, who was actually better at the time. There was a change in the team's coach because of this, and Zagallo was the one who managed to put together a fantastic tactical scheme that to this day is considered the best team of all time. But if you don't know who Zagallo is, you shouldn't know Rivelino, Jairzinho, Gerson, etc., so it's not appropriate to debate football in these conditions.

It's funny because you just don't know me, you see a little flag next to my user name and that's enough for you to judge what I know and don't know about football, I already told you I know who Zagallo is... but crew can't throw a cup everytime and ex-player dies, maybe their mistake was to throw a free cup honoring Beckenbauer and instead they should throw a cup once a year honoring the players/managers we lost and everyone will be happy.

The same can be said about Beckenbauer. In order not to trivialize, they should only pay tribute to the best in each position. In the case of defenders, on a planet where Baresi, Maldini and others were born... But then he will argue that Beckenbauer's legacy went beyond his career as a football player. When you say "If you don't know" it implies the person you're talking to don't know something and you're going to rely the information. Also, sarcasm/irony was probably lost in translation but crew only ever throws cups for football players, don't remember them ever throwing a cup for a football coach.... I mean, they should/could.... but then again, so many ex-players/managers that were important to world football or regional football die each year, that they should throw an "In Memoriam" cup each year mentioning all the people we lost.

His importance is not as a player but as a football personality and not just Brazilian but global. Zagallo trained teams and national teams around the world. He was a unique person, full of mysticism and very attached to the number thirteen, other than that he is the biggest World Cup winner and one of three people who were World Cup champions as a player and later as a coach, as we are at MZ, Paying tribute to him would be really cool. And the coolest thing would be if your trophy had reference to the number thirteen.

The problem I think is coaches are rarely remembered outside their home Countries, not sure if people knows who Bilardo or Menotti is or even someone like Rinus Michels

I don't think anyone should be happy, both are important losses for football. It was a fair tribute, like the one MZ always pays to the great figures of the world of football. I think that perhaps many European users did not know this, since they tend to look down on South American football a bit, like mbappé.

What you classified as "insane", which I would have dismissed Pelé as, is actually your insanity, as I only reported that before Zagallo's arrival, Pelé was being heavily contested and that the role typically performed by him , would tend to be exercised by Tostão. João Saldanha at the time said that Pelé was becoming short-sighted and was in poor physical condition, which generated a major crisis at the time that culminated in Pelé going to the reserve bench in March 1970 and João Saldanha's dismissal in the the next day for this and other reasons. And I approached this story just to mention that the person who arrived, just 3 months before the 70 World Cup, and managed to solve Brazil's tactical problem in a brilliant way was Zagallo, a great football legend whose tactical scheme for that World Cup was revolutionary and makes him worthy of homage. Talking about the cup, the Kaiser was a bigger figure as a player, if we consider only the accolades on the pitch. However, Zagallo had a huge importance on Brasil football history, winning WCs as a player and coach. Participating in 4 WC titles is colossal.

I, personally, will understand if the cup doesn't happen. Zagallo wasn't a worldwide known name, even if his impact on the brazilian game was that big. But, as a member of the brazilian community, I think that the homage is valid.

Even if the Zagallo Cup happens only to our players. I think this would be the best outcome.
