And in USA we have the same number of players as China, all countries need to be reviewed and I've been saying this for the past 3 years, but it seems crew just don't care.

This change will not bring money. And can cut on money received in China. Sp why to bother with users?
Let them slowly quit the game

The suggestion is very interesting.
Why do we have work permits? What do they do? You can buy them on the day the foreign players arrive at the club, which is totally nonsense.
When the work permits were introduced, they made sense. Now, the days limit were removed so that U21 teams can actually buy more foreigners.

Make a rule that makes sense. That's a simple IMHO. I have players that played for my team more than 1.000 days, that's more than 3 years, more than 12 seasons, and I didn't buy them work permit, because they didn't need it.

So, I totally agree that foreign spots and especially work permits should be revised in a way that makes sense.

You want more foreign players for the U21 teams? OK, do that, but make the work permits actual work permits, like they were intended.

Above the age of 22 or 24, I don't have a problem either way, let them be actual work permits.

So let's talk about actual work permits.

Let's start with football. How many do we actually need? No more than 4, let's be honest. How many foreigners? No more than 4-5 as well. It's more than enough. So you can use that 4-5 foreign spots to strengthen your senior squad or buy more youths to grow.
Meanwhile, for the Uxx teams, you can add another 4-5 foreign spots.
8-10 foreign players is more than enough. I think we all can agree on that one.

Let's talk about hockey now. 7-8 work permits for the senior squad is more than sufficient. Also 7-8 foreign spots.
Meanwhile for the Uxx teams also 7-8 foreign spots are more than enough.
That makes a total of 14-16 foreign spots which you can use. The numbers can be reduced if you wish, but not increased.

That's realistic, logical and fun.

I would like to finish the discussion talking about actual work permits. They were introduced with a 90 day limit, if I remember correctly, then reduced to 70 days I think, then the day limit as entirely removed, which makes total nonsense.
I would put a 400-500 day limit, that's 5-6 seasons, just like in RL. So you can buy that work permit for the player for his entire career. If you wish to sell him afterwards, the player shouldn't lose his work permit if he's moving to another team from the same country. It means that buying that work permit actually increases the player value, because he can be bought with the work permit by another team from the same country.

That's also realistic, logical and fun.

Thank you for reading.

I appreciate you taking the time to write such a well thought out comment, Mihai, and I'm inclined to agree on making the work permit structure more aligned with the real world so that we don't blindly get them as soon as a transfer happens and instead need a 'cool down' process. Even the transferrable work permit sounds great to me and I'm pretty sure that's how it was originally.

You lose me a little bit when you say that we should have 4-5 spots for the senior squad and then 4-5 for the UXX squad. I'm not sure if you mean that we get 8-10 and can distribute them however we please or if it's a hard cap of 4-5 players over 23 and then 4-5 under 23.

If it's the latter, then I'm not sure how you implement that. What happens to a team that has 4-5 foreign players in their late 20's and 4-5 23yo players? Does the game blindly force them to sell their oldest player?

If it's the former, then I agree with the caveat that we should maintain the regional system where some countries have access to more/less foreign player slots depending on the size of their community. This is to make sure that a well-run club from a less active country can still compete against an equally well-run club from a more active country.

A team from Andorra pretty much has to rely on the foreign market if it's to use the transfer market, at all. Even if it's managed by a savant, an equally competent manager from Argentina will be able to make the same type of optimal decisions but have access to a massive domestic market as well as the same foreign slots as their Andorran opponent. 9 times out of 10, the Argentinean team will beat the Andorran.

This is why we should make sure that countries of different size should have access to a different number of foreign players.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

The work permit system was a good idea, but then we decided to help the U21 teams, which can't actually use it.

So, instead of offering these clubs more foreign Uxx spots, we decided to ruin the work permits.

I see your point. Let's say that you have 16 hockey players at the age of 21. The next season you will have 16 players at the age of 22. You keep the next seasons. You will have 16 foreign seniors.

It's almost impossible scenario, but let's say that happens. You actually can't buy any foreign player for entire seasons.

You can offer half of them (8) work permits, but guess what, you still can't buy senior players. You can only buy 8 Uxx players to grow.

This is an impossible scenario, but in theory it can happen.

There is no disadvantage here, because you already had a full squad at the age of 21, and seasons later they turned seniors. More than that, now you have 8 work permits, 8 foreigners and still be able to scout for 8 hot prospects.

You are going to ask me - is that enough? You still need 5 more domestic players. Let's say you play in Andorra. What stops you from actually growing 5 players from your Academy or add some Loyal Players in the mix?

Consider the fact that when they were 21, same rule applied. You still had to have 5 Andorrian players in your squad.

Let's take an example from Football now. You also play in Andorra, right?

Let's say you have 8 foreign players at the age of 21. For a full team + 2-3 reserves, you still need 5-6 Andorrian players, which you can actually grow from the Academy.

The next season they all turn 22. And you already have a full squad + 2-3 reserves. The next seasons they turn seniors. You can buy 4 work permits and allow yourself to scout for 4 hot prospects on the TM. And there's plenty of time to develop.

More than that, like I said, work permits should gain priority for the National Team.

It means that buying those work permits ar the age of let's say 25 makes them eligible for the Andorrian National Team.

With just 3 Andorrian managers you can have 12 players with work permits eligible for the Andorra NT. This actually helps the small countries.

This was part of the whole initial work permit idea. You grew those players for 5-6 seasons and you can enjoy them at the club as National Team Players for your country.
