Best skills for short, balanced and committed.

Badge image
I was hoping to gather some information from fellow managers about what skills they see as being the most important when plating the following

5-2-3
Short passing
Balanced mentality
Committed press

I believe stamina is key for the committed element so 9 or 10.

Short passing is passing and ball control across all players. Midfielders 9 passing min and 8bc min.
Then main skill for strikers and defenders being shooting and Tackling of course.

My question is for defenders would you prioritise passing over Tackling?

My goal is to have 9+ in their primary positions. Ie Tackling, passing and shooting. Mids with at least 8 ball control. Strikers with 8+ ball control. Defenders +6 ball control.

All players with +6 passing?

Any assistance would be great

Definitely tackling over pass for defenders and your DM’s need high tackling too. Against most wing tactics now DM’s make more tackles than centre backs.

Everything else you’ve got pretty well right. Stamina crucial and player intelligence is obviously very important too for your players.

What would you say is high Tackling for DMs? 7/8 or higher?

So DMs should be

Pass 9/10
Bc 8+
Tack 7+
Stam 9+
Speed 8+
PI as high as possible

Ultimately am I going to come up short reaching Div 1 playing mids with Tackling 7 or defenders with 7 passing?

I want all my players to have base stats as follows

Speed 8+
Stam 9+
PI 6+
BC 8+
Pass 8+

Depends what your aim is? If you want to challenge with the best teams in Mz all your players will need 9-10 PI. If you want to win domestically, what you listed should be fine

As always I really appreciate your input chucky. Your passion is evident for MZ.

For some reason I suspect that even domestically, even in MZ England, you are going to have hard time challenging titles if your players lack play int.

I just checked my team, and found that I have only 3 players who have less then 9 balls in Play int. - one is training his 9th ball(4star HP, so I hope it will be 10 :P), one is on 6th - project player who decided not to be world class winger and last one I bought as a temporarly solution to add that diversity to my team..

So what I try to say, that it is one of the most (if not the most)important skill in MZ.

When I was NC coach of Estonia in 2020, and won the Euros, then I wrote down avg. skills of NT team. And Estonias NT team avg. in play int. was at the time 9,1. It was only trainable skill that went over 9 :P

Didn't realise the importance of PI at that level.

I'll work on PI also. Average is low across the squad sadly.

Definitely the most important. Hence why you see all the stars with 9 or 10 PI sell for soo much.

Best way to look at it like an amplifier. It increases players skills they already have.

Why is the importance on one skill so heavy at the top end?

Without going too deep with explanations but chuckys quote above and this are two short answers: players with high Plat int. tend to have much higher efficiency regardless of their position.
