Hi! Been a while since I had a player this was an issue with. However, I discussed with my mates which of these two works: 1. Set the player to train on a maxed skill, or 2. set him on a skill he has very few balls in (as in not maxed). One of my mates said he had been gotten a pm from a national team coach who asked him to set an NT player on a skill which he was maxed in..Is this a thing/the best thing to do?

You can’t prevent deterioration or slow it down. A player will lose a maximum of 2 balls in speed and 2 balls in stamina from the age of 30.
Usually at 30 a player loses one stamina and one speed and when they turn 33 they lose another speed and stamina. This differs slightly for some players though.
Putting a player on a maxed skill is said to give a player a “training boost” so typically for star players in an important match (e.g. national team games) coaches like players training in a certain skill to give them a slight boost. Not sure if the theory is even proven though or how much the boost is.Edited: 26-08-2021 13:50

To clarify this a bit more, the player will loose the ball bit by bit over the years. When a player turns 30 he will start loosing percentages of his running skills. The time after 30 and 33 it is only a negligible difference Even though it looks like the players has lost quite a lot.
We have done some tests with the boost and have located it, but we don’t know enough about it to say it makes a big impact and how.
PM me to get an explanation on how to check for yourself
