Please don't all maul me at once! Its just an idea, however I have spoke to a few managers already who agree but just thought I would throw it out there.
I have spoke to CREW also who agree the idea is viable but will need the support of all nations to do and will need alot of work in the background
The Idea - Scotland, Ireland and Wales all merge into one league(s), prem, DIV 1 etc etc, to become the Celtic League etc this in theory should keep more players active and also create more opportunity for competition. However they all retain their nationalities, meaning they still have NC and NCA and their own nationality so nothing will change regarding the players and youths etc. It will simply move teams into different leagues. This will in theory if done properly also boost the smaller nations youth academies because we will have more active competition and more players joining or rejoining the game. I think, like in our league now, if you get promoted to the SPL by losing all 22 games without scoring then something needs to change. The idea behind it would give each ranked team a seed number then form some sort of play off to give them a overall position of what league and they would begin in.
I also would like to see the same process rolled out in hockey so its a even process.
I would love to hear anyones opinion and also a vote system to give the crew an idea who is in favour of it.
After rejoining the game myself after many on and off years. Yes I could spend the next 10 months rebuilding now and then playing, but what would keep me here and keep me spending! England is a typical example of right down in the 2nd division there is competition, which is what we should be having here too.
Thanks Mike
