How should I place my players in the lineup (shortpassing)?

How should I place my players in the lineup (shortpassing)? I currently use a somewhat symmetrical 4-3-3 but I could switch to a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1. But even in that case I would like help in how the players should be placed as it seems succesful formations in MZ are always/usually weird by real football standards.How should I place my players in the lineup (shortpassing)? Dont most top teams play something other than short passing tho?
