Returning Player Strategy

Hi guys,

Having started the game in 2010 and not played properly for years (despite the occasional logging in, lining up a weeks worth of friendlies then not playing again for another year or two) I have decided to rejoin - something to do to break up my 1 hour train journey to work!

It seems a few new features have been added that I'm not sure about. I'm now in a position where I'm not sure about what to do given the changes since I last played and hoping you can help.

My objectives are:

* To climb back up the divisions and make it to at least Div.3 in the next 3 seasons.

* Continue to grow my financial base so that when I get to league 3 I can fund a decent Senior team.

I am currently in English Div.6 with 11 players on my team. Pretty sure I've started early enough in the season to move from 8th to a promotion spot in time as my first few games and scout matches against the current #1 in the division were all wins.

My finances have been staking up too (Currently have £7.7m and a stadium that can accommodate up to Div.3). I have 11 players, weekly expenses are about £20K on upkeep and £60K on salaries (£5.4k average salary) and income is about £145K. No youth players....yet

My questions are as follows:

* Is it still really easy/get promoted to win English Divisions 6-4? I think remember previously getting promoted even though I didn't win the playoffs.

* Been reading a lot about Youth teams. Knowing Youths will have lower salaries - how much lower are they? In other words, what is the average salary for a Youth that had just graduated?

* Would it be a significant saving, whilst still allowing me an good enough team to get promotions, if I were to use the Custom Youth Setup feature right at the end of this season to get myself maximum youths, disown 10 of them and keep the 11 best as my senior team until Division 3?

* Is it possible to win Divisions 4-6 with under 11 players to save on salary costs?

* Are there any guidelines anywhere on what average player values are needed to succeed in each Division? Conscious of overbuying when I have to replace my ageing team.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Sorry, last question on an already long thread!

Say I were to bring in the oldest possible youth players, how early do you need to recruit them in order to get them through their last free YTC/TC before they graduate (or can you still send them on a YTC/TC on the day before they graduate and they will still get the full benefit?)

1) It is easy to get promoted. I started last season in div. 6 after returning and was promoted to div. 3 after winning it. When you are in an inactive league, you should be promoted regardless of winning or not.

2) Average salary for would be about 4 - 7k Eur.

3) You would save 300k (Eur.), but you would lose out of the ability to shape their training and more efficiently filter out the poor youths. There is a youth exchange now, which lets your trade some of your current youths for 16 y.o ones, which you can also make use of. I think it all comes down to your financial situation.

4) You should end up in a semi-active league, that is higher than Div 4-6 next season.

5) I don't think there are any such values, as the number of players and thus the requirements for winning them would be different for each country. Since the end goal would be the top league I would say you will need a 1 mil+ (Eur) lineup to make an attempt at being competitive.

6) You can send them to TC even at the last day of the season with no drawbacks other than the TC slot that they will be occupying during the start of the new season.

Very good answer thanks. If I'm likely to jump up a few leagues to an active one next season it's probably not worth scraping my team for 18yo youths as I'll just end up losing. Id saving about £175k a season on salary but be stuck not progressing for a few seasons when I could make that amount back in an even higher division.

Any idea what kind of 18yo youths I could expect if I did get a few at the end of the season just for fun?

you mean through the Custom Youth Setup ?

if that's what you meant, then first of all u will get youths which have been trained everyday (until the day u get them) for that season. coming to 'how good they will be'...there's never a 'fixed' thing. varies from manager to manager (based on pure luck i'd say).

but, u can expect something like the type of players (19 yr olds) a new team gets on registration. so, u will have a some avg players who'll already have maxed, some with good skills (but maxed), while others (very few though) will have some good skills and yet unmaxed. the only difference is, the number of skill balls they will have will be comparatively lesser than what the 19 yr olds (in a newly registered team) have.
