It is going to anger alot of managers when their players of 28 years old goes into their next season, a ball down in speed and stamina, within the first few days. Deterioraions should happen, but i dont think it should be one ball in speed and stamina on the first few days of the season starting.
How about an option to preserve a player prior to the deterioration age... Maybe when they hit a certain age you can choose to stop them improving and gaining balls and focus solely on preserving and keeping in good condition? and then when they hit the deterioration age, maybe they don't lose them balls straight away, maybe half way through the season or towards the end or even the season after.
I don't know if that's a good idea, i'm just blabbering. But the instant loss of a ball in speed and stamina at the start of the season for all the old players doesnt seem right.

I suppose losing a ball is not as dramatic as many think. For example, when your player loses a ball from 8 speed to 7, it might be that he has still got about 7.9 of speed, just that it is presented as 7 balls, but his speed is very close to what it used to be and it's not a loss of a whole ball. So don't panic :)

They're not losing balls, they're losing 1/20th of a ball, or there abouts. If your player was maxed in speed or stamina he was probably at 9.02 or 8.00. Now he's 8.97 or 7.95. He's essentially the exact same player, you're only seeing 1 less ball in the archaic display. Tell me, if your player could run 100 meters in 9.9 seconds but now takes 9.91 seconds, how much slower and less effective in a football match is he really?

I do realise this, my concern is more about the value of the player. As soon as that stamina goes from a 7 to a 6, any value the player had has almost disappeared.
But i suppose the way it works, there's no way to solve the problem. I see you can use physio's to slow down the deterioration but that first ball in stamina and speed will be gone before they have an impact.

Why would his value have gone down all that much? Every player in his same situation has also lost that same stamina ball. They're all now 6's instead of 7's so the comparative value is the same.
You could argue that now a 32 year old who has lost a ball in stamina is less valuable compared to a 25 year old with the same stamina, but that should be the case. Except, the 30 year old probably has a lot better skills overall, essentially forcing managers to choose between older, slower, more skilled players, and younger, faster, more skilled players. A tough decision, and exactly the way it should be.
Deteriorations have only eliminated the super-players, nothing more.
