FIFA Ballon d'Or

Hi guys who's going to get it? Before yesterday's catastrophic defeat against Ukraine, I thought Ribéry would easily have it but it seems like France won't be participating to world cup and since Blatter doesn't seem to appriciate Ronaldo, Messi might again get it. I'll talk about the 3 players here separately, with a bonus. Messi- Messi, surprisingly, has a solid chance at winning the award, even though he has suffered many injuries and hasn't been able to get 100% fit in a while. This is only because of how much love captains, the press, and managers have for him around the world. I don't think he deserves it this year, but I would not be that surprised if he wins it.[b] If he does win it, the award loses all credibility.[/b] Ribéry- The French winger definitely had a spectacular year, winning the treble with Bayern. He was a big part of the team, but I do not believe he was as much as a factor as one would expect from the Ballon d'Or winner. He is a spectacular player, definitely one of the top 5 players this year, probably number 2 on my list this year, but honestly I don't think he really did enough to win the award. He had many goals and many assists, but the totals do not reach the ranks that Messi and Ronaldo have reached the last few years. Ronaldo and Messi really are from another planet, and if Messi had stayed healthy, there would be no mention of Ribéry at all. Cristiano Ronaldo- People will say I am biased, but I do not care. Cristiano is one of my favorite players, Real Madrid are my second favorite club (behind FC Dallas, my hometown team.) That does not mean he isn't deserving of the award. Cristiano's only real competition should be Messi, and since he has suffered the injury crisis, there is no competition. Ronaldo is the X-Factor for Real Madrid. He means so much to the team, without him they would be knocked down 5-notches. After Madrid sold Ozil, he stated he was "scared". Ozil had been his number one assist provider, and so he did not know if he would translate his goal scoring numbers onto the next year. Cristiano has not only continued to play magnificently, he is setting his own personal records. He has had the best start to the campaign thus far, and only yesterday he scored the lone goal in an all-important World Cup playoff against Zlatan and Sweden. I don't see Portugal blowing the lead going back to Sweden, and they should qualify. Cristiano is the only real candidate there should be this year. The award should go to him, and if it does not, there is something wrong. Again, if he does not win the award this year than all credibility is lost. Zlatan Ibrahimovic- I feel bad for the man. He is a spectacular footballer, but he will never win the award. If he was playing during basically any other time during history, he probably would have won 1 or 2 of these awards, but because Messi and Ronaldo are so much greater than any other player, he is left to wonder what could have been.I'll talk about the 3 players here separately, with a bonus.

I don't think Ronaldo deserves it. Everything he did, Messi did better (34 goals to CR, 45 to Messi). They have to be compared because they are in the same league and Barcelona were more successful. I'm hoping it goes to a Bayern player. They blitzed the German league and won the treble but I don't rate Ribery as one of their best. Tosspot if the award goes to a Bayern player, it definetly belongs to Ribéry. He's their best player. I'm not telling that because I'm french but Muller or Lahm has no even half of the impact Ribéry has. He might not have scored as much as Cristiano or Messi but guys, remember that both of them play forward. Scoring is their job. Ribery passes, scores and creates danger. I agree with you kyleriese, Cristiano has a made az big season this year but all this efforts has lead to no tittles. Even now Real Mardid is behind Atletico. This can be the year of a surprise. Not sure if Messi gets it since he has been injuried and out of form, on the other hand CR hasn´t been better. Zlatan has easier opponents than Messi and Ronaldo. Ok finally your saying something that is right for once but not quite there, Ronaldo plays on the wing, While Messi plays on as CF "this year they are playing messi on the wing. Look at the assist Messi gives each year. More then ribery yet he scores more goals and ronaldo on the crosses is a beast.

He should leave this "formated" club "for Messi" to we all finally can see what kind of "great" player is Messi... (CR played Man UTD, Real Madrid, etc...) Totally agree!
