İsrafil Rüştü took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amadeu Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Özalp Tarab had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A sloppy throw-in by Alexandre Neves in the 11th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by U21 Turkey's Ogün Temizkanoğlu. In the 16th minute, Arif Bilge Durdu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 28th minute Amadeu Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but İsrafil Rüştü saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Filipe Andrade was a little too slow when Bulut Işınsu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 29th minute. The score was now 1-0. With a little luck, U21 Portugal's Filipe Andrade got control of the ball when Bulut Işınsu tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 35th minute of the match U21 Turkey got a corner. U21 Portugal's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sümer Açar ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of U21 Portugal's goalie and right to Bulut Işınsu. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. U21 Portugal's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Özalp Tarab's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Filipe Andrade read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. U21 Turkey's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Sümer Açar in the 38th minute. When Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the U21 Portugal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Portugal's zone, Bulut Işınsu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Filipe Andrade came out of the goal and Bulut Işınsu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Vic Al Mahmed charged in rather forcefully in the 50th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vic Al Mahmed the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, U21 Turkey's Aykan Üstündağ got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but İsrafil Rüştü made a huge save. In the 56th minute, Özalp Tarab ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Filipe Andrade was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. U21 Portugal's Das Bost was substituted for Amadeu Nascimento. The crowd rose to their feet as U21 Portugal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of İsrafil Rüştü. That made the score 2-1 after 61 minutes of play. U21 Turkey's Mahsun Başkaya was substituted for Bulut Işınsu. U21 Turkey's Osman Nuri Han was substituted for Arif Bilge Durdu. After some careless play in the U21 Portugal defense, Mahsun Başkaya kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Filipe Andrade. The U21 Portugal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Filipe Andrade should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Mahsun Başkaya put it in 4-1 from a short distance just to the right of Filipe Andrade. Filipe Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Özalp Tarab in the 75th minute of the match. 79 minutes into the match, Mahsun Başkaya notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of U21 Portugal's Filipe Andrade. Filipe Andrade was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. U21 Turkey's attentive Aykan Üstündağ managed to snatch the ball when Vic Al Mahmed made a throw-in in the 82nd minute of the game. U21 Portugal's Filipe Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mahsun Başkaya in the 83rd minute of play. In the 84th minute of the match U21 Turkey got a corner. U21 Portugal's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sümer Açar ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Sümer Açar got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Filipe Andrade quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 92 minutes into the game, Aykan Üstündağ threw the ball into play from the sideline. U21 Portugal's Vic Al Mahmed quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Özalp Tarab sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. U21 Portugal's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
